Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says his biggest competitor isn’t Blockbuster the largest brick-and-mortar rental chain or the internet, but Redbox the renting movies vending machines service.
CEO Reed Hastings:
“By the end of the year, kiosks will likely be our No. 1 competitor,” Hastings said in a recent conference call. “There are already more kiosks in America than video stores.”

LoveFilm the UK’s leading film rental service in the UK with some 1m users is considering takeover offers from a number of private equity firms. The company is reportedly being valued at £200m with £72 million revenue is considering options that include selling a majority share of the business or launching an IPO.
“The company has received a number of approaches and the board is exploring options on behalf of the group and its shareholders,” a LoveFilm spokesperson said, without commenting further.
