Blockbuster.com OnDemand will allows consumers to view movies on Samsung TV. Under the deal with Samsung, the world’s top maker of memory chips and flat screen TVs, Blockbuster’s OnDemand service will be integrated into new Samsung HD TVs, Home Theater Systems and Blu-ray players.
Rival Streaming players Netflix and Amazon.com also provide video to TiVo users’ TVs.

Online DVD Rental Service Netflix.com has created a partnership with Sony which will allow Internet Read Sony Bravia TV to stream movies and TV Shows straight from Netflix.com
Netflix subscribers on an Streaming plan will be able to use their Sony Bravia TV sets to instantly watch up to 10,000+ movies on demand.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says his biggest competitor isn’t Blockbuster the largest brick-and-mortar rental chain or the internet, but Redbox the renting movies vending machines service.

“By the end of the year, kiosks will likely be our No. 1 competitor,” Hastings said in a recent conference call. “There are already more kiosks in America than video stores.”

Netflix Reed Hastings indicated that perhaps as soon as later this year or sometime in 2010, Netflix might start offering online-streaming-only subscription plan. Hastings claims that in order for Netflix to be able to add more available online streaming content, Netflix needs to pay for that additional content with revenue generated from new customers.
Netflix has instant movies streaming. The service is free for Netflix customers and allows them to watch a selection of about 2000 movies and TV shows online on their PC’s. On the other hand Blockbuster has such perks as one free in-store movie per month and the flexibility to return in store the movies that you order online, thus reducing the turn-around time.

Blockbuster would roll out a new digital media player that brings fewer, but more recent titles from the Internet to consumers’ televisions than a six-month old offering from rival Netflix. The MediaPoint player by broadband device maker 2Wire allows Blockbuster customers to download high-definition quality movies to their TVs via broadband lines for $1.99 apiece, after an initial $99 for the box and 25 films.
